Bike Everyday

It's not just a slogan, it's not just a lifestyle, it's a bike. It's my bike, to be exact. My very first Bike Friday. I had never, ever welded anything in my life before I came to Bike Friday and within a month or so I had my bike completely put together. I did a little touring, a little mountain biking, and a heck of a lot of commuting on it over the 3 years it remained, more or less, in the configuration you see.

But I learned that though it was a versitile bike, it's much nicer having more than one. You can't have too many horses, just too small of a stable. It was kind of pain to clean and tune it up when I wanted to go touring or do MTB and it was a pain to take the knobbies on and off and it was a pain to have all those gears when commuting, etc.

So it's currently getting worked on. It's being repainted and totally redone. I'm making it pretty pseudo-retro. What I mean by that is I've got an old Campy Nuovo Record front derailleur for it but I'm going to use "the most anatomically advanced bar available," the Ritchey BioMax Pro. It's going to have all silver parts and a gold paint job. I think I'm going to run a Capreo double, but haven't totally decided yet.

In any case, I need to get going on it because the Blackberry Bramble is coming up quickly and I need to get ready for it. I could ride it on a fixed gear (more dramatic things have been done on such a bike), but it gives me an excuse to get the Llama back up to shape. I should have pics soon or you could come join me on the century!
