recumbent update!

In case it wasn't clear, we now have a SatRDay Mk II Sport recumbent to test ride in a medium-ish size. In more exciting news, we finally rolled out the first official production version today. We took some pics of it being packed and here's the results:

And here's Hanz, proud to show that the bike and the trailer in the case are under the airline weight limit:

Lastly some details of the test ride bike:

Connecting piece between seat top and bottom:

Back of the seat showing the two separate pieces and how the seat frame goes in. The crack on the left side is from the crush testing we did on the bike. Obviously this isn't what we're having people ride on! Interesting note about this though: the recumbent withstood the crush testing better than any other bike we've built!

Rear end. Note that there's a space for a second elastomer. Note also that this bike is missing the necessary rear rack mounts. They'll be brazed-on to the top of the chainstays on the other side of the bridge between the two stays in production models:

Here's the seat attachment. The front quick release allows the seat to flip up and lay flat against the mainframe when quick folding. The second one allows for adjustment along the rail. The one in the rear (that's on the far left of the shot) is for removing the seat frame from the bike when packing:

The folding stem mechanism is displayed here. Note the beautiful spade and the collar that allows for height adjustment of the handlebars:

This handlebar close-up shows the quick release that allows the handlebars to be folded up. The collars on the handlebars add extra security and allow for some adjustment in and out:

The chain idler is ingenious, being able to move both in and out as the chain moves up and down the cassette and also employing an actual cog on the inside for total lack of slippage:

Here you can see that the hinges are hollow:

Anyways, if you'd like a ride, please call or e-mail to schedule an appointment. There are lots of folks clamoring for it.

Speaking of folks clamoring for it, we're getting closer to spring delivery for these things!
