donate money to a good cause and get a free bike!

Ok, here's the deal: I've been talking to Ron Miller, one of the guys instrumental in starting up the Rose City Wheelmen in Portland. He desperately wants to get himself a Pocket Rocket, but being in his retired years, he's not overhwlemed with free cash. So he's planning on selling his old bike. So help a Bike Friday wannabe out by buying his bike!

This bike is a gorgeous, pristine 1964 Bianchi Specialissma with two total owners and less than 1000 miles on it. It's all original and even has a second wheelset and some old Campagnolo tools (!) to go with it. Check out the pics (they'll enlarge if you click on them), but see the spec below them.

Wow, huh? Here's the spec as I know it:

SIZE: 58-59cm center-top
TUBING: Columbus steel
HEADSET: Campagnolo (this was a rare vintage of Bianchi with integrated cups!)
STEM: Ambrosio alloy from Italy
BRAKES: Universal Super 68
BRAKE LEVERS: Universal with original gum rubber hoods
SHIFTERS: Campagnolo downtube shifters
FRONT DERAILLEUR: Campagnolo
REAR DERAILLEUR: Campagnolo Gran Sport
CRANKS: Campagnolo Strada 170mm with 53/45 chainrings
BARS: Ambrosio Champion alloy from Italy
CHAIN: Regina
COGS: Regina 13,16,19,22,24
FRONT HUB: Campagnolo large flange
REAR HUB: Campagnolo large flange
TIRES: Sew-ups (not sure which)
SEATPOST: Campagnolo
RIMS: Fiamme
SADDLE: Brooks B-17
PEDALS: Campagnolo with matching clips and straps
PUMP: Silca Esport with Campagnolo end
BOTTLES AND CAGES: Simplex Tour de France bidons!!!!

Now you'll notice the bike doesn't show the wheels as spec'd. That's because the bike currently does not have these originals included but instead has:

FRONT HUB: Campagnolo Record small flange
REAR HUB: Campagnolo Record small flange
COGS: Pro Compe 14,16,19,22,25
TIRES: Specialized 700x25
RIMS: Rigida 13-19

These would be included with the bike.

This thing is a gem, a collector's item, in perfect shape. If anyone is seriously interested, please contact me and I'll get you more information on it.

You may want to try the Classic Rendezvous list for this bike. They're mostly collectors. I'd love to have it, but I'd ride the snot out of it, and a bike like this deserves better.

Oops, slacking here. Ed, thanks for saying hi and the good tip. All others: there's currently a sale pending but if you're still interested on being second-in-line (actually more like 7th or 8th or something considering the people I've already e-mailed back) just in case it doesn't go through, let me know.
